Older traditional fascias and soffits made of wood need regular maintenance to keep the roofline dry. Rain water damages the wood causing it to rot and also allows birds to nest which can bring other insects into the roofline causing damage. Wooden fascias and soffits need replacing and painting to keep them maintained.
The newer upvc products are much more beneficial and do not need regular maintenance. They are weatherproof and help prevent birds from nesting.
Soffits can be ventilated to allow for the air to circulate and help prevent condensation occuring in the roofline/loft space.

When it rains do your gutters overflow? Are your gutters leaking?
Rain runs off the roof into the gutters and flows through the downpipes into the drains. Any blockages causes the water to disperse anywhere and this can cause numerous problems, damp walls and ceilings, damage the brickwork, even the foundations of a building if neglected.
Blockages are caused through a build up of dirt, leaves, nesting materials, broken roof tiles to name a few.

Don't neglect the chimneys. Chimneys are at the highest point of the roof and are, therefore, open to the elements.
Over time, the weather caused the mortar between the brickwork to crack and crumble, which if left, can cause the bricks to loosen.
A small re-pointing repair could save you a much more larger and expensive repair if neglected. Loose bricks on a chimney can cause it to topple over which can damage the roof and anything below it.

We carry out all verge and ridge maintenance.
Traditional verges are mortar based and, over time the weather takes its toll and causes the mortar to crack and crumble. Birds also take advantage of this and make the holes bigger to allow for nesting. Any holes in the mortar allows for water ingress, which in turn causes problems.We remove the old mortar and replace with new to stabilise the edges of the roof tihe constant repair bills.
Ridge tiles can be re-bedded, they will eventually loosen due to the weather.
Removing the old mortar and re-bedding the ridge tiles will stabilise them.
We can upgrade to the new dry roofing products which have more advantages, and no maintenance.
The new dry roofing products are weatherproof, and also allow for the natural movement of the building, which mortar does not.
Dry ridges are mechanically secured and allow for ventilation to help prevent condensation.
